British WWII wooden hand rattle, issued and stamped in 1939, and made by W Clements & Son
A good clean and usable rattle. A type more commonly seen, and used, by fans at football matches of yesteryear.
*Warning* - This one is still very loud when activated, it is not a toy!
Issued to, and used by Air Raid Precautions Wardens. If a gas attack was suspected, a warning was given locally, by means of the ARP warden's hand rattle. The all clear was announced through the ringing of hand bells!
