Smoothing plane - Marples

This Marples smoothing plane number M4 is fitted with a Beech rear handle, a Beech front knob, a 'Marples' lever cap, a cap iron and a replacement Record cutting iron / blade. 

The blade can be easily adjusted laterally using the lateral adjuster found behind the blade.

The plane is finished with a red japanning.

As well as replacing the cutting iron, previous owner has also replaced the frog with another made by Record. This doesn't affect the use of the plane.

Good overall condition. A good  and usable, general purpose bench smoothing plane.

Will require sharpening/honing before use.
