Edward Preston plane model 1347, is a 3 3/4" long bull-nose plane.
The cast iron plane body is designed with contrasting black japanned finish with steel curves and textures, giving this plane an impressive sculptural design.
The plane is classed as a non-adjustable bull-nose plane due to there being no blade fine adjustment mechanism; the plane requires the user to position the blade by hand.
The blade is held firmly in place with the use of the securing cap / lever cap. The brass tightening screw is marked on the face with the Edward Preston logo.
The 1347 plane was fitted with a shouldered bevel edge plane blade. The plane blade is 1 1/8" wide, and sits in the plane with the bevel edge face up and the cutting edge spanning the full width of the plane.
This plane is in very good clean original condition and appears to have had very little handling.
A great collectors piece for display, or a very usable furniture makers plane.
