Hollows and Rounds - Varvill

A fabulous 1/2 set of even numbers Hollow and rounds, 2s, 4s, 6s, 8s, 10s, 12s, 14s, 16s and 18s, all stamped by the maker Robert Varvill and Sons, Ebor Works, New bridge Street, York. Robert worked from this address from 1873 until 1904.

That makes these planes between 115 and  150 years old!

The steel cutting irons are good and will hold a good edge, although some are showing some pitting on the stems.

All planes are  stamped with previous owners stamps including Barrs and Bristow. It would seem that three of the planes are replacements, albeit with planes of the same pedigreeand makers marks.

A great find, that would make a lovely  addition to any collection, or to be used by a working craftsman.

Will require sharpening/honing before use.
